Dojis at round numbers: signal or superstition

Indecision candles magnetise attention near whole figures — a checklist before you treat them as turning points.

Round numbers attract resting orders and commentary. A doji printing on such a level feels prophetic. Sometimes the pause is real: two-sided interest has temporarily balanced after a trend. Sometimes the doji is simply the market catching its breath before continuing — and your “reversal” was a story you wanted.

Checklist we use in private reviews:

  1. Was there a clear prior trend of several bars, or was price already chopping?
  2. Does the doji sit at a level you respected before this session, independent of the round figure?
  3. What would invalidate a reversal reading within the next two candles?

If you cannot answer the third item in prices rather than feelings, the doji remains an observation, not a setup. Superstition loves round numbers; journals prefer invalidation.
